In this review of handbuilding techniques for improvers you will revisit, and sample new, handbuilding and glazing techniques to explore more forms, techniques and processes. Sessions will include demonstrations to encourage independent surface, form, material and design experiments. At the end of the course you will be able to solve problems to make increasingly complex, robust and refined functional and / or sculptural pottery.

Content:

Handbuilding techniques: coil building, slab building, using moulds and modelling for multi-component makes. Glazing: selecting glazes and applying glazes to bisc, using resists. Good practice: managing workspaces and resources to avoid common technical problems. 

Exceptions: weekend and weeklong courses do not include learning how to glaze, your pots will be glazed and fired in our transparent house glaze.

Prerequisites: basic handbuilding experience.

Duration: 12-15 hours.

Includes: non-refundable booking fee (2.5% of ticket value), all materials, and up to 4kg of fired work (unfired weight).
