Sunken Studio create opportunities for people to encounter clay for the first time, more of the time or lots of the time. We run a large coworking ceramics centre in Leeds. We host pottery making and ceramics courses for beginners and advancers, masterclasses, and provide support and resources for our community of members.
If it involves making, building, architecting... we’re up for it.
Courses & Tasters
Our beginner’s courses cover a range of basic pottery making techniques and processes and require no previous experience. They are prescriptive sessions: practical, tutor-led and discipline-focused (i.e. you don’t need to be creative).
Our programme of Advancer courses vary in focus. Through our programme we aim to:
develop an understanding of the creative process,
extend practical skills and material understanding,
provide time to explore focused disciplines, techniques and processes,
support the development of independent studio practices,
discuss ceramic contexts,
support the development of design skills.
Our Masterclasses celebrate different perspectives and expertise in ceramics. We invite practicing specialists to deliver demonstrations and workshops and to talk about their work. Masterclasses aim to encourage independent experimentation and personal development.

We host clay-based events and happenings for large groups. We can design and deliver a range of creative packages to suit your training and development needs, or just for the fun of it.
