Pot Luck

Pot Luck
A short, experimental session designed to help you understand how you like to work with clay - whether that’s structured and precise, expressive and sculptural, or somewhere in between.
Everyone begins from exactly the same place: a single extrusion of clay. From there, the choices are yours. You’ll cut, join, reassemble and refine that starting form, gradually shaping one small pot through a series of decisions made by hand.
By setting a few simple limits, the session opens up space to notice what draws your attention, how you respond to structure, and what feels most natural to you as you work. Some people find themselves drawn to order and repetition, others to gesture and surface. Both are equally valid starting points.
Pot Luck introduces essential handbuilding techniques while offering a clear glimpse into your own making instincts. Many people find it helps them decide whether they’re more drawn to sculptural approaches or functional, refined forms - and whether they’d like to continue on to Foundations in Pottery Making, where there’s more time to develop a personal direction.
This is very much a session about noticing how you travel through uncertainty: a road, some limits, and enough support to begin making.
