Figurative Animal Busts with Jasmine Simpson, 14 June

£244.00

Step into Jasmine Simpson's world, a place where wildlife meets clay tamed.

After earning her MA in Ceramics & Glass at the Royal College of Art, London, where she was awarded a Griffin Scholarship, Jasmine significantly marked her presence in the ceramics world. Recognised by Elle Decoration as one of the New Female Designers to Know and featured in Ceramic Review Ten to Watch list, her works have been showcased from London Craft Week to the British Ceramics Biennial.

In this workshop, Jasmine will guide you in bringing your chosen subjects to life, from adding expressive features to mastering accurate proportions. You will learn how to make animal busts, and will uncover the symbolic connection between the natural world and human essence, evoking introspection and empathy.  You are invited to experience the transformative power of clay and animal metaphors, fostering a deeper understanding of ourselves and our shared journey through life.

Pounce on clay in this hands-on workshop, where you’ll be guided through the intricacies of shaping, detailing, and finishing your pieces. This is a rare opportunity to investigate animal sculpture at Sunken Studio.

Expect personalised guidance and feedback complemented by group conversations. It's an opportunity to deepen connections, share insights and spark collective creativity.

This workshop is a key highlight of our new programme, The Crafted Chronicles, running from May to October 2024 - a celebration of ceramics! Join us for an exciting lineup of workshops, artist talks, and interactive sessions that blend traditional pottery, sculpture, and more.
