Member's Glazes

Transparent glossy pale blue

Two new glazes for our members. Chris has done a little bit of tweaking and we now have two blues. The first is an adjusted glaze from waste batches - looks a bit like celadon (but definitely isn’t).

The second is a variation on the blue we use on our Standard Ware pottery. It’s an electric opalescent blue with purple undertones. Hopefully, this will satisfy the thirst for blue… if only for a while…

Supported clay and glazes are prepared and managed for members by the team at Sunken Studio. We recycle house clay for members and undertake extensive research into clay and glazes. Our supported clay and glazes are stoneware (cone 9). We fire oxidation in electric kilns.

Supported clay and glazes undergo compatibility tests for fit and durability. We are well placed to advise on colour, surface, glaze application and behaviours.
