  • Clay Social – Friends & Family Pass

Members can now invite a guest into the studio with a Clay Social pass - a way to introduce friends or family to what you do here.

→ The pass costs £10 per guest

→ Any materials used are charged at the usual member rates through your account

→ You’re responsible for your guest for the duration of their visit, including any work they produce

→ All activity is subject to the same constraints as your membership

    Important:

This pass does not include access to the wheel. You can show your guest what’s involved, but no wheel work is permitted - wheels are reserved for members and scheduled classes only.

Clay Social isn’t a substitute for a throwing taster or class, and we ask all members to help us protect the balance between open access and structured learning.

Thanks for helping us keep the studio running smoothly and fairly for everyone.

Friends and family will need to pay the supplement, but as a member, your access is already covered.

  • Sunken Studio’s Members Markets are set to become a regular feature in the calendar providing structured milestones to develop skills, share work, and engage with a wider audience. These quarterly events are an opportunity to gain experience in exhibiting, pricing, and marketing while building connections within and beyond the studio.

    Market Dates

    Markets will take place:

    • 26 July 2026

    • 31 October & 1 November

    Opportunities for Development

The markets are an opportunity to:

    • Work towards tangible goals.

    • Gain experience in exhibiting, pricing, and presenting your work.

    • Develop a regular practice of making and refining pieces.

    • Connect with other makers, studio members, and new audiences.

    • Gain feedback.

    Guidance for Exhibiting & Marketing

To help you prepare for these markets, we have put together some simple guidance on exhibiting your work and marketing effectively:

    Preparing for the Market

    • Select your best pieces - consider what represents your work well.

    • Think about display - how will you present your work to make it inviting?

    • Price your pieces thoughtfully - consider the time and materials involved.

Costing and Pricing and the Aims of the Members Markets

We recommend reviewing our Costing and Pricing handout for guidance on how much you sell your pots for. We use a system of Price Floors for our members markets, this helps:

    • promote the value of handmade pottery , quality ceramics and craft.

    • to make the markets more stable and predictable for buyers and sellers

    • prevent concern of undercutting fellow stall holders

Review the handout at this link.

    Marketing Your Work

You are encouraged to take an active role in promoting your work. A collective effort will help ensure each market is a success. Here are some ways to promote effectively:

    • Social Media: Share your work on Instagram and tag @SunkenStudioLeeds

    • Email & Word of Mouth: Let friends, family, and customers know when and where they can find your work.

    • Photography: Good images help! Photograph your pieces in good light and share behind-the-scenes insights. Leave plenty of space around your pieces to enable resizing for different social platforms.

The Sunken Studio team will provide light promotional support, but the most meaningful engagement comes from you sharing your own work.Your audience will come to see your work.

If you need any further guidance, a more detailed marketing handout is available here.

If you have any questions or need support, please ask!
